Size: 4ft 7in x 3ft 6in (140 x 106cm).
Circa 1880.
The rug is a classic example of a Dokhtar-e-Qazi prayer rug, the literal translation is 'Daughter of the Judge'. The rug has a dark indigo blue ground decorated with a all over lattice design of small shrubs in madder red. The mihrab at the top of the rug is of the traditional design for this type of prayer rug. note the small boteh either side of the mihrab.
The rug is in fair condition with even wear and medium pile, there is some corrosion and a few old repairs. The ends are complete but the sides have been slightly reduced in width. This is reflected in the price.
The rug has been hand washed and ready for use or display.
The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
