Tiny kilim fragments. All from the same kilim, a gorgeous antique Reyhanli datable back to 1850/1860s. i bought it 20/25 years ago somewhere in Eastern Anatolia from a guy who thought had a museum piece. The problem were the condition issues. In my insanity i bought it. It happily aged in my storage place. i used to take it out once or twice a year, had an adoring look at it and put it away. Each time situation was worse. The “friendly” moth used it for their meals. To cut it short, one crazy day i took the brave decision to practice a kind of surgery in order to save at least the “soul” of this great tribal art piece. i felt guilty but there was no way out. It was huge: something like 200x400 cm. These tiny, geometric, beautifully graphic fragments are part of it. #carlokocman
